Ask, Seek, & Knock

Good Morning my friends,

I’ve seen and heard people claim to be disappointed with God. They’d say, “If He really cared about me, I wouldn’t have so many problems. But since He doesn’t do anything about them, why should I bother with Him.” I wondered if they even had a relationship with God before “all their problems” began or if they even tried to go to God to begin with. Most go through life without ever knowing God or giving Him His rightful place. Almost always, these people have never made an effort to seek God or find His answers to their problems and that’s sad. Instead of actively seeking Him, they passively expect Him to come to their rescue without any effort on their part. They ignore Jesus’ words, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7).  If you have never trusted Christ for your salvation, don’t sit back and wait for better time to accept Him; that moment may never come. If you know Christ and are struggling with a problem or decision, don’t try to solve it on your own. Commit it to God and seek His will without delay.

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6)

I hope that you all have a TREMENDOUS day.. Blessings & much love….D

ALWAYS…..Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!

Parenting is Hazardous on the Heart

Good Morning my friends,

This weekend as I chilled at the house and played on Facebook, I saw that it was move-in weekend for college bound Freshmen. That’s one experience that left a lasting emotional impression imbedded in my heart two years ago when we moved Zakk into his dorm at Texas A & M. The move-in wasn’t so bad, other than he was on the fourth floor of his dorm and it was built without an elevator which meant stair and that was very rough on a then 44 yr old chunky guy. We got him all me moved-in and all his stuff put up where he wanted it, we then grab a late lunch and then back to our hotel. We woke up Sunday morning, picked him up and took him to breakfast. During our conversation at breakfast he said he slept well which was a good thing in my mind. After breakfast we went back to his dorm and chilled with him for 2-3 hours. When it was time to go, he walked us to our car and we did our hugging, kissing and said our good byes. I will never forgot the look on his face as we exchanged our good byes. The look in his eyes as we drove off from him crushed my heart.. It took everything I had to do it. It’s only a 3hr trek back to Willow Park. We went to the evening service because we knew we needed to go to the altar. The drive seemed like it took 7 or 8hrs. Me, Keri & my youngest son Michael cried the whole way.

Keri & I did our best to prepare him for road ahead and not the road for him (thank you Jessie Simon) but I think life had thrown him a little too much for his 18yr old mind & heart could handle at one time. You see we moved him in on Saturday and I had exploratory cancer surgery on Monday. He was in a new place, he didn’t know a single sole, he was in a new more challenging atmosphere, and his dad was having surgery. Zakk tried to come home that whole first week but Keri was able to soothe his mind each day. Her continuous advice was to pray and give it to God. Keri & I had many tearful days those first 2 weeks he was gone. We kept replaying that look over and over in our minds. It took him about three weeks for him to get in his groove but once he did he has never looked back..

“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deuteronomy 6:7)

Parenting is without a doubt the hardest job you will ever undertake and the most rewarding. For those that their parenting days are ahead of you, brace yourself! To those that are mostly behind you, then you know what I mean. One of the goals as a parent is to work yourself out of a job because someday your children are going to leave home, and a major part of your responsibility is to prepare them for that day. From teaching them to brush their teeth, tie their shoes, to help them with their homework and to encourage them to make wise decisions when they go off to college. A parents goal is to prepare them for the day when you won’t be there.

What about their spiritual foundations? Have your children learned from you what it means to walk with Christ every day? Have you taught them to pray, love the Bible, and to live by its truths? Have you encouraged them to give their lives to Jesus Christ? Don’t leave it until it’s too late, start now so you can help them build the moral and spiritual foundations they will need for a lifetime.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ )

My CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU.. Teach your kids to possess their faith not just profess it..

I hope that you all have a MAGNIFICENT day.. Blessings & much love….D

ALWAYS…..Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!

The Unforgivable Sin

It’s Friday BUT SUNDAY’S COMING!!

Good Morning my friends,

People have the tendency to put different levels on sin. People often justify their sin by comparing it to the sin of someone we know whom we consider much worse.. In God’s eyes ALL sin is equal except for one. It doesn’t matter if it’s adultery, cursing, homosexuality, lying, or stealing… They’re all the same in God’s eyes. It’s man that has put different degrees on sin.

THE BIBLE TELLS US WHO NEEDS SALVATION..

“We all, like sheep, have gone astray.” (Isaiah 53:6)

“No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12)

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and as a result of our sin.”(Romans 3:23)

THE BIBLE TELLS US WHY WE NEED SALVATION

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Romans 6:23)

THE BIBLE TELLS US HOW GOD PROVIDES SALVATION

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8)

THE BIBLE TELLS US HOW WE RECEIVE SALVATION

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”(Romans 10:9-10,13)

THE BIBLE TELLS US THE RESULTS OF SALVATION

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”(Romans 5:1)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

Salvation doesn’t come from Baptism, it comes from the belief that you are sinner and there’s NOTHING you can do to earn your way to Heaven besides accepting Christ.

Examine yourself TODAY.. Have you accepted Christ as your Savior? It doesn’t matter if you’re a Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Lutheran or…… What matters is that you’ve accepted Christ as your Savior..

THE SIN THAT CAN”T BE FORGIVEN

Jesus said: “All the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them.” Think of just a few of the people Jesus forgave during His ministry: the woman caught in adultery; the murderer who was executed with Him; Peter, who denied Him three times; the deranged, demon-possessed man in Gerasene. Think about the Saul of Tarsus, he violently attacked Christians and was determined to stamp out the Church. If God could forgive them, can’t He forgive anyone, no matter what they have done? He can even forgive you?

The only sin God cannot forgive is the sin of rejecting Christ. Turn to Him in repentance and faith, and He will forgive. Billy Graham stated the question that he has received the most over the years: “What is the unforgiven sin?”

“Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” (Mark 3:28-29)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER FOR YOU… Look at yourself and decide today if you are a child of God..

I hope that you all have a FANTASTIC day.. Blessings & much love….D

ALWAYS…..Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!

My Stubborn Will

Good Morning my friends,

Yesterday was a long and difficult. It’s began around midnight when I was awakened from a deep sleep with severe bone and joint pain and muscle spams in my back that were almost unbearable. I immediately took my pain meds & muscle relaxers but the onslaught had already set in. After two hours of writhing in pain, the meds finally started kicking in which allowed me to fall back asleep for a couple hrs, but the pain wasn’t finished. It’s was a little after 4am when it kicked in again but this time it was even worse. I could no longer tough it out. I was at my weakest point. There I was lying in bed with tears in my eyes when I reminded myself that I have nothing to prove and that I don’t have to do this alone. I cried out to my Holy Father and asked Him to wrap His Loving arms around me and help me with my pain so I could sleep just a little. As I cried out to Him the pain slowly began to subside but it did not vanish and I was able to get some rest for a couple of hours.

My stubborn will clouded my judgement. I know that I don’t have to do this alone. I know I can rely on my Heavenly Father to lift me up during my most dire need. He is always wiling to lift us up so that He can place His Loving arms around us and bring us comfort. We just have to not be to stubborn to ask. After getting a little rest, I woke up a little before 7am to more back pain. Once again I took my meds immediately but it was too little, too late. I moved from the bedroom to the living room and prepared myself for what I was about to face. As the pain set in with a vengeance, I went to my Lord again and ask if it was in His Will to reduce my pain enough so that it was tolerable. My prayers were answered again and finally around noon all the pain had totally subsided which in turn allowed me to get some much needed rest. I’m probably as stubborn as the come especially when it comes to taking meds. I just don’t like prescription meds, especially pain meds because I don’t like to feel doped up. The only prescription meds I don’t hesitate to take are my nausea meds. The nausea that is caused by chemo is too much. This bone & joint pain is all new to me. I’ve talked to several cancer patients that have gone through it before but their description off it didn’t even come close. The back pain and spasms is by far the worse. I guess with my core being compromised with my last surgery, it’s expected for my back to be weakened..

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬)

Becoming a Christian is a once-for-all event, when you repent of your sins and cast yourself on Christ alone for our salvation. We are converted instantly when God takes us “out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9). Being a Christian is a daily, ongoing experience. It’s a lifelong process of daily repentance and faith, of turning from sin and seeking to live for Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. That’s where our wills come in. Although we have been converted and God has come to live in us, our old nature is still alive and kicking and Satan will also be doing everything within his power to trip you up.. It is our stubborn wills that demand us to put ourselves first instead of Christ. It’s a difficult job trying to bring our stubborn wills into submission to Christ, but once we do, it’s as if a misplaced vertebra has snapped back into place. Instead of the stress and tension of a life without the harmony with God, we discover the Serenity & Peace of His Holy Presence..

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,.” (Acts 3:19)

MY CHALLENGE PRAY for YOU… Don’t allow your ok’d stubborn will to interfere with your transformation.

I hope that you all have a TERRIFIC day.. Blessings & much love….D

ALWAYS…..Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!

My Not So Secret Sins

It’s Friday but SUNDAY’S COMING!!!

Good Morning my friends,

Have you ever tried to hide your sins? Do you have secret or private sins that only you know about? For many years I thought I was getting away with sin because it was done it private. Whether it was alone time surfing the internet or “innocent” flirtation with my vendors they were my very own hidden/secret/ private sins.. Only I knew about them…haha I find that harilious now, only because I was so caught up in my own little world that I thought I could hide my sins from God. These sins although they feel small most of the time can have a much bigger impact on your life because they will eventually lead to a chance to make more devastating sins. We have a tendency to separate us our sins according to big & small. We can separate our sins in degrees as much as we want but no matter how big or small the sin we commit is, they ALL have one HUGE consequence. That consequence is that they separate us from God. The further we move away from God the easier it becomes to commit even more sin. As a Christians, we should willingly ask God to search us daily from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet and cleanse us from all our sins.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,”‭‭ (Acts‬ ‭3:19)

Have you ever stopped to think how difficult it must’ve been for David to pray this prayer? It’s uncertain whether or not he penned these words before or after his terrible sin with Bathsheba. But either way, David knew he was capable of terrible sin and that like the majority of people his first impulse when he sinned was to deny it or try to hide it from God. David had to have a lot of courage to ask God to search out the darkest, most secret corners of his heart and mind. If you aren’t willing to do this often, then these sins that we know about remain unconfessed, and our fellowship with God remains cold and distant. More importantly, there are some hidden sins that you may not even realize you have like pride, suppressed anger, withheld love, jealously, a secret yearning for recognition. If these sins remain firmly in place they could eventually manipulate you and destroy you. Have the courage to pray this prayer. Whatever God reveals to you, confess it, repent of it, and ask Christ to replace it with His purity and love.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)

My CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU… Ask God to search you. Whatever He reveals, confess it, repent of it, and ask Christ to replace it with His purity and love.

I hope you all have a FANTASTIC day… Blessing & much love…D

ALWAYS…..Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!

My Desire to be a Courageous Man

It’s Friday but SUNDAY’S COMING!!!

Good Morning my friends,

I use to constantly worry about what people thought of me. I tried to be everyone’s friend. The more friends I thought I had, the harder I tried to contact with more people. I always wanted to be the life of the crowd, not by being obnoxious but as the fun crazy party guy that everyone loved to be around. I wanted the attention, the clamor of everyone’s praise and recognition. I was blinded by the world and its sinful ways.

Today, it doesn’t matter to me who likes me. I don’t seek or want praise or recognition from anyone for how I live my life because I don’t deserve it. I have done nothing but mess my life up when I was doing it on my own.. Jesus changed my life.. He changed my heart, changed my desire and and changed my oath. I now walk humbly on a path that is lighted by my Savior. Jesus blessed me with confidence to walk boldly everyday down a righteous path instead of highway in search of worldly praise & recognition. I do my best to shine a light on my Holy Savior in allI do. My desire is to be the leader that God has designed me to be. I march to the beat of a different drum. A drum that beats according to the Holy Inspired Word of God. I know that my path will not be without obstacles or failures however when I face those obstacles or experience failure I vow to hold my head high, to jump back-up immediately, brush myself off, own my failures, ask for forgiveness and continue down the path that God has provided for me. I strive to be a man of courage, a man of influence, and a leader that is guided by God’s Will only. I pray that other men & women will see my calling and want to followJesus into eternity..

“That you may become blameless and pure children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”(Philippians 2:15)

Seek the face of Jesus and you will find all that you have longed for. He will fill the deepest yearnings of your heart which is intimacy with Him. You were created to desire Jesus so don’t feel guilty about taking time to be still in His Presence. You’re just responding to the guides of divinity that within you. He made you in His image and hid heaven in your heart. Your yearning for Him is a form of homesickness, a longing for your true home in heaven. Do not be afraid to be different than other people. The path He has chosen for you to travel is exquisitely for you. The closer you move to follow His lead, the more fully He can develop your gifts. To follow Jesus wholeheartedly, you must relinquish your desire to please other people. But your closeness to Him will bless others by enabling you to shine brightly in this dark world.

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” (Psalm 34:5)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU…. Relinquish your desire to please people..

I hope you all have a FANTASTIC day… Blessing & much love…D

ALWAYS….. Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!

Blazing a Path Towards Jesus

Good Morning my friends,

After three years of writing my daily devotions, I’ve been wondering where I go from here. I will without a doubt be forging full-steam ahead however it’s been weighing heavily on my heart how do I take my devotional to next level so I can reach more people. As I’ve ponder & prayed over my thoughts one of the things I’ve tried not to do over the last three years is march to the beat of the world. Instead I’ve tried to make sure that I’m blazing a path to my Heaven Father. As a believer in Christ and the Bible, it might appear that the battle is being lost in the world that we’re living in today, however I am reminded that every time I read the book of Revelations, it’s Jesus Christ and His people that are victorious when it’s all said and done. I can assure you it’s not those that deny Christ, live in the flesh and bow down to the demands of society.. I’m going to continue to press forward and in all likelihood my next moves will be YouTube and Instagram because we are already on Facebook & Twitter, and of course have this blog. I’m not sure if anyone will be too keen looking at my ugly mug but God is leading this journey..

“The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” (Song of Solomon 2:13)

Jesus wants you to go away with Him. He wants you to get somewhere quiet and talk to Him and listen for His response. The world we live in is nonstop with it’s demands. Put the world on hold instead of being like most people that put Him on hold. Don’t rationalize your thoughts of putting Him on hold and make plans that someday you will find time to focus on Him. The longer people push Jesus into the background of their lives, the harder it will be for them to find Him.. Don’t be one of those whom glorifies busyness; those people have made time a tyrant that controls their lives. Those who do not know Jesus as their Savior march to the tempo of the world. They have bought into the illusion that more is always better: more meetings, more programs, more activity. Jesus calls upon you to follow Him on a solitary path, making time alone with Him your highest priority and deepest Joy. It is a pathway largely unappreciated and often despised. However, when you have choose the better way, it will never be taken away from you. Walk close to Him so that He can bless others through you.

“But few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU..  Chose to follow Christ on the path that He choses not the world.

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL day… Blessing & much love…D

ALWAYS…..  Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!
