The Perfect Gift

 Good Morning my friends,
Don’t you just love it when you can give your kids that perfect gift. I think one of every parents dreams is to give their kids more than they had as a child.. We love seeing the excitement and the overwhelming joy on their face when they open that package or gift bag.

Several years ago Keri & I bought 4 wheelers for the boys for Christmas. We went to a small shop in Springtown and ordered a red & a blue one and were told they would be in the Friday before Christmas.. We purchased helmets & goggles to match from a different store. The Friday came and I went to go pay for them & pick them up but they were closed and weren’t going to be back open until the middle of the following week.. One problem Christmas was on Sunday. It was beyond our control so we decided that we would just give them the helmet & goggles and explain what happen.. Christmas morning came and our anticipation was running high. We just knew their excitement was going to be unbelievable.. The boys started with their stockings and the other couple of gifts we had purchased earlier in the year. We kept the helmet & googles in our room. After finishing their other gifts we told them we had 1 more gift. Keri & I went into our bedroom and put the helmet & goggles on and walked out. The look on our boys face was priceless. There was NO excitement at all. They looked at us like we were crazy.. We took the helmets off and gave it to them and they just looked at us confused. Keri asked, “are you excited?” They just set there with a blank stare. It was totally not what we were expecting . So we asked, “do you know what it is?” Zakk said, ” yea its a helmet..” Then it hit him.. He yelled, “We have motorcycles” & he jumped up and ran outside and Mick was right behind him. They ran to the garage and then to the shop. When they found nothing there they turned around with disappointment on their little faces. We then explained to them it would be a few days before they got them.. The excitement & joy returned..   Everyday is Christmas to God.. He loves to give us blessings. He anticipates our reaction. Do you gratefully accept them or do you accept them as if you’re deserving? My friends God gave us THE PERFECT GIFT OF ALL when He gave us His Son. Jesus.  He then turned around and paid the price for you & me. He endured a beating like never seen before for your sins & mine so that we could have ETERNAL LIFE with our Father.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)

Many people would say that it’s at my age that it is a time of abundance. I should be making the most money that I’ve ever made. I should be driving the nicest car, living in the nicest house. Etc…etc.. If fact people might say the my cup runneth over with blessings. I’m certain that’s not the case for this 46 year old but it might be with others as far as income, vehicles and/or house. My cup runneth over with blessings but it’s not anything material. Jesus wants you to enjoy the fullness of your cup because He delights in providing it for you.

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5)

Jesus’ children sometimes hesitates to recieve His good gifts with open hands. Instead they let feelings of false guilt creep in and they tell them they don’t deserve to be so richly blessed. Thinking like this is nonsense, because no one deserves anything from Jesus. His Kingdom is not about earning and deserving; it’s about believing and receiving. When a child of His balks at accepting my gifts, He is deeply grieved but when you recieve His abundant blessings with a grateful heart, He rejoices. Jesus’ pleasure is giving and your pleasure in receiving. They flow together in Joyous Harmony.

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”  (Luke 11:9-10)

MY CHALLENGE for YOU.. Gratefully accept the blessings from God.

I hope you have a TREMENDOUS day…. Blessings & much love……D

ALWAYS…..Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!!
