Deflecting Despair

Good Morning my friends,

Life can be rough.. It can have many ups & downs, unexpected curves and lets not even talk about the speed bumps & potholes. How we view and approach those obstacles determines how soon when get past them. I think a lot of times in life when going down that stretch of road where we are bombarded with one obstacle after another we want to throw our hands up in the air say I GIVE UP… Depression & discouragement weighs in and consumes us. A few days ago I posted the following, “The next time you think that you have it bad and life can’t get any worse, I challenge you to come spend a day at MD Andersen just sitting and watching. I’m reminded every week that although I’m a patient receiving treatment it could be a lot worse.” Tomorrow we all gather with family for Thanksgiving. It’s a moment to give thanks.. No matter what we are facing in life we all have something to be thankful.

There’s a story about Martin Luther going through a period of discouragement and depression. For days, his long face darkened the family dinner table and dampened the family’s home life.. One day his wife came to the breakfast table all dressed in black, as if she were attending a funeral. When Martin asked her who had died, she replied,”Martin, the way you’ve been behaving lately, I thought God had died, so I came prepared to attend His funeral.”

Her gentle but effective rebuke drove straight to Luther’s heart, and as a result the great Reformer resolved to never again allow worldly cares, resentment, depression, discouragement, or frustration to defeat him. By God’s grace, he vowed, he would submit his life to the Savior and reflect His grace in a spirit of rejoicing.

“God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Deflect you despair by finding something to be thankful for.

I pray that YOU have an TREMENDOUS day. Blessings & much love…. D

Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!!
