Good Morning my friends,
I can remember when both of my boys were first born. The excitement was unexplainable with both of them but when it came to going home from the hospital with Zakk our emotions were pure fear. The hospital had just released this little bundle of joy into the care of two young adults that knew nothing about taking care of a baby. Sure we had both changed diapers and even feed a baby before but this was different because this baby was dependent on us. It was up to the both of us whether or not this baby was going to flourish or not. There’s not a book we could’ve read that could’ve prepared us for that feeling of responsibility. When it came time to take Mick home it was totally the opposite. We were confident. We had been there done that. We both had learned our responsibilities and developed our thoughts and opinions on rearing children.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”(Proverbs 22:6)
I can remember lying in the floor with our boys when they were babies playing with them. I watched as their little muscles developed through these little exercises. It’s only when we started giving them some resistance that they become stronger.
In the same way, the Bible tells us that we only become stronger spiritually through exercise. By using our spiritual muscles to meet the challenges of life we become much stronger in our walk. I can attest that this is especially true when we are faced with long-suffering and affliction. God uses our long-suffering and afflictions to make us stronger. One of the reasons God allows suffering to come to His people, the Bible says, is to discipline, chasten, and mold us.
In the last essay he wrote before he died, the great Christian writer C.S. Lewis said, “we have no right to happiness;only an obligation to do our duty.” Sometimes our God given duty will include suffering. When it does, ask God to teach you through it and remember the psalmist’s words..
“Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law;”(Psalms 94:12)
MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Allow God to mold you through your sufferings and afflictions.
I pray that YOU have an MAGNIFICENT day. Blessings & much love…. D
Live YOUR life like it’s your LAST 24!!!
