Learning from Mistakes

Good Morning my friends,

When I first felt God’s calling to the ministry, I thought that there was no way He could ever use me because there were things that weren’t right in my life. I never thought about the sinful lives of the great men of the Bible that God used.. God included real-life, flesh-and-blood, sinful people in His Word. David committed adultery, Abraham lied about husband wife, Moses committed murder and the list goes on and on. God did this as a lesson for you and he to learn from their wrongdoings.

One of the lessons we should learn is that sin always has consequences.. Take David for instance, he was a great leader and a good man in many ways but over the years he became complacent and instead of carrying out his responsibilities, he fell into immorality (2 Samuel 11-102).

When you consider the tragic consequences of his sin, not only did the child born of that illicit union die, but David committed other sins to cover up his adultery. Furthermore, his influence for good lost, and his latter years as king were marked by rebellion and tragedy.

God has much to teach us from the examples of His people who failed. But most of His Word points us to Christ, who alone can forgive us and set us free from the bondage of our sin.

“These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭11‬)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Learn from your mistakes and seek the right path for your life.

I pray that YOU have an SUPER day. Blessings & much love…. D

The Only Way

IT’S FRIDAY BUT SUNDAY’S COMING!!

Good Morning my friends,

There’s an old saying that, “all roads lead to Rome.” Perhaps it was true in the ancient world when Rome ruled but today that’s quite different. In today’s world you can get lost going anywhere. The road you’re on may lead you in the opposite direction from where you’re headed. The only sure way of knowing if you’re headed in the right direction is to look at a map or ask someone whom knows the way.

Not all roads lead to God, as some suggest. There are roadblocks that keep man from reaching God. The roadblock of sin. But God has provided a map in the Bible and the perfect Guide who knows the way and can give us directions in Jesus Christ.

Jesus did not say, “I am one of many roads to God.” He said, “I am the way.” That wasn’t arrogance or narrow-mindedness, or lack of compassion.. It is truth: only Christ came from Heaven to pay the price for our sins.

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭6-7‬)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Accept & follow Christ and no longer be lost.

I pray that YOU have an FABULOUS day. Blessings & much love…. D

The Grace of Gratitude

Good Morning & Happy Thanksgiving my friends,

The Pilgrim Fathers who landed at Plymouth in 1620 knew nothing of the bountiful prosperity that were experience and enjoy today. During their first long winter, seven times as many graves were dug for the dead as homes were built for the living. Seed imported from England, failed to grow, and a ship that was to bring food and relief brought thirty-five more mouths to feed, but not an ounce of provisions. The Pilgrims caught fish and hunted wild fowl and deer. They had a little English meal and some Indian corn.

Yet their lives were marked by a spirit of constant thankfulness. On one occasion William Brewster, rising from a scanty Plymouth dinner of clams and water, gave thanks to God “for the abundance of the sea and the treasures hid in the sand.”

According to today’s standards, the Pilgrim’s had little, but they possessed a sense of great gratitude. Gratitude is one of the greatest Christian graces, ingratitude, one of the most vicious sins.

“It is good to give thanks to The Lord.” (Psalm 92:1)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Ask God to open your eyes to all the blessings He has bestowed on you and to give you a fresh spirit of gratitude

I pray that YOU have an TERRIFIC day. Blessings & much love…. D

Deflecting Despair

Good Morning my friends,

Life can be rough.. It can have many ups & downs, unexpected curves and lets not even talk about the speed bumps & potholes. How we view and approach those obstacles determines how soon when get past them. I think a lot of times in life when going down that stretch of road where we are bombarded with one obstacle after another we want to throw our hands up in the air say I GIVE UP… Depression & discouragement weighs in and consumes us. A few days ago I posted the following, “The next time you think that you have it bad and life can’t get any worse, I challenge you to come spend a day at MD Andersen just sitting and watching. I’m reminded every week that although I’m a patient receiving treatment it could be a lot worse.” Tomorrow we all gather with family for Thanksgiving. It’s a moment to give thanks.. No matter what we are facing in life we all have something to be thankful.

There’s a story about Martin Luther going through a period of discouragement and depression. For days, his long face darkened the family dinner table and dampened the family’s home life.. One day his wife came to the breakfast table all dressed in black, as if she were attending a funeral. When Martin asked her who had died, she replied,”Martin, the way you’ve been behaving lately, I thought God had died, so I came prepared to attend His funeral.”

Her gentle but effective rebuke drove straight to Luther’s heart, and as a result the great Reformer resolved to never again allow worldly cares, resentment, depression, discouragement, or frustration to defeat him. By God’s grace, he vowed, he would submit his life to the Savior and reflect His grace in a spirit of rejoicing.

“God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Deflect you despair by finding something to be thankful for.

I pray that YOU have an TREMENDOUS day. Blessings & much love…. D

Relinquishing Control

Good Morning my friends,

I once heard a story about a little girl whose father was an airline pilot. The little girl was on a flight with in which her father was the pilot and as they crossed the Atlantic, a storm came up. The flight attendant awakened the little girl and told her to fasten her seat belt because they were in some turbulent weather. The little girl opened her eyes, saw the lightening flashing around the plane, and asked, “Is Daddy at the controls?” The flight attendant replied, “Yes, your father is in the cockpit.” The little girl smiled, closed her eyes, and went back to sleep.

Several weeks ago Keri and I were our way back to Stephenville from Weatherford driving down I-20 and there was a flashing construction sign that said, “Rouge Road Ahead.” I looked to Keri and said wouldn’t life be great if we had warning signs. As we talked about the different warning signs, we both said we don’t need warning signs now that God is at the controls.

God is at the controls of my life. He wants to be at the control of yours, but He gives us the freedom to pilot ourselves as we wish. The problem is that we often crash, much as we would if we took the controls of an airplane we had not been taught to fly.

God knows us. He knows our strengths and weaknesses, and He knows what is best for us. If we will only relinquish the control of our lives to Him, He will see us home safely home.

“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭48‬:‭14‬)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Allow God to be at the controls..

I pray that YOU have an TREMENDOUS day. Blessings & much love…. D

Choose to Love

Good Morning my friends,

If God were to remove all evil from our world but left us on the planet, it would mean that the essence of our “humanness” would be destroyed. We would be like robots.

Think about it!! If God eliminated evil by programming us to perform only good acts, we would lose our ability to make choices. We would no longer be free moral agents.. That means we would not have the capacity to love. Love is based upon one’s right to choose to love. We cannot force others to love us. We can make them serve us or obey us. But true love is founded upon one’s freedom to choose to respond.

I learned over the last few years that love doesn’t mean agreeing with someone 100% of the time. It doesn’t even mean that you have to accept & embrace someone’s political beliefs, their chosen lifestyles, or their religious preference. It doesn’t mean that if there are people in your life that are destructive to you or your family, that you can love them from a distance. God has taught me that I need to love everyone but that doesn’t mean that I need to make myself vulnerable or open for attacks from those that chose not to live the same way.

One of the things I always tried to do was to make sure people knew that I genuinely loved them. It didn’t matter it they were employees, customers, colleagues or vendors. I tried to show them through my actions that they were more than just that.. In fact, they were more like family. Did it work? I think so, I have friendships with some of those people that call me every week just to check on me. Did it ever bite me? Of course it did, but that’s not for me to worry about because I can not make someone love me like I loved them or treat me like I treated them.

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭19‬)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Choose to LOVE…

I pray that YOU have an MAGNIFICENT day. Blessings & much love…. D

Two Books

It’s FRIDAY but SUNDAY’s COMING!!

Good Morning my friends,

The following words are perhaps the most sobering words imaginable. The Bible tells us that Heaven has two sets of books. One set records every detail of our lives: everything that we have done since the day we were born. Yes, that’s EVERYTHING that we will be held accountable for at judgement
.
But Scripture also tells us that there is another book in Heaven: The Lambs Book of Life. When we come to Christ and receive Him at the cross where He died for us and we believe that He has risen and we receive Him into our lives– our names are blotted out of the first set of books. God no longer remembers our sins because they have been blotted out by the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross for us.

It’s at that very moment that our names are blotted out of the first set of books that God writes it in the Lambs Book of Life. Only those whose names are recorded there will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Is your name written in the Lambs Book of Life?

“Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (‭Revelation‬ ‭20‬:‭15‬)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU!!! Confirm your entry into the Lambs a Book of Life.

I pray that YOU have an FANTASTIC day. Blessings & much love…. D
