Eliminating Ungodly Influences

IT’S FRIDAY BUT SUNDAY’s COMING!!!’

Good Morning my friends,

Last year Keri & I read Jimmy Evans’ book Life Long Love Affair and after doing so we did the Study Guide questions.. I would highly recommend all couples to read it together and do the study questions as well. I remember reading through one of the chapters and Jimmy spoke about how hanging around with ungodly people can influence your action and even eventually destroy a marriage. He spoke about how when he first got married that when his wife Karen asked him to stop hanging out with hell raising buddies, how he reacted. He said, “I got angry and said don’t ask me to stop hanging out with my friends because it’s not going to happen. I love you but I also like my friends and I’m sticking with them.” He said that he knew they were a bad influence but still wanted to be loyal to them. I think this is where a lot of marriages go wrong. We want our cake and eat it too. If you want a marriage of commitment and trust, you’ve got to be willing to do things that promote those feelings and it will starts with giving up people that are not living the same type of life that you wish to live and have not have anything in common with..

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”(Romans 12:2)

Our society relentlessly inundates us with peer pressure everyday of our lives. I fact, life promotes excessive & promiscuity. It doesn’t matter how old you become peer pressure will always still be there. One of the things that I’ve tried to teach my boys is that if you have goals that you want to reach and there are obstacles which are keeping you from reaching those goals then you’ve got to eliminate those obstacles from your life so that you can achieve your goals. I tell them it doesn’t matter if it’s the Playstation or your “best friend” or “girl friend”. If it’s taking you away from your dream then eliminate it. A true friend should tell you that you need to be doing this or that instead of trying to get you to do other things.
You can’t allow peer pressure to grab our attention because when the noises of the world grab our attention it doesn’t allow you to hear God speaking to you.

“That you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”(Deuteronomy 30:20)

Stop worrying long enough to hear God’s voice. He will speak softly to you. He speaks to the depths of your being as your mind shuttles back and forth, hither and yon, weaving waves of anxious confusion. As God’s thoughts rise up within you, they become entangled in those sticky webs of worry. Thus, His voice is muffled, and you hear only white noise. Ask His Spirit to quieten your mind so that you can think His thoughts. This ability is an awesome benefit of being God’s child, patterned after His own image. Do not be deafened by the noise of the world or that of your own thinking. Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Sit quietly in God’s Presence, letting His thoughts reprogram your thinking.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

MY CHALLENGE PRAYER for YOU.. Reject peer pressure, eliminate the ungodly influences in your life and ask God to quiet your mind so that you can think His thoughts.

I hope you have a FABULOUS day… Blessing & much love…D

Live your life like it’s your LAST 24!!!
