Thankfulness is Learned

Good Morning my friends

THANKFULNESS takes the sting out of adversity. That is why God instructed us to give thanks for everything. When you give God thanks regardless of your feelings, God will give you Joy regardless of your circumstances. This is a spiritual act of obedience. To people who don’t know God intimately, it seems irrational or even impossible to thank God for heartrending hardships. Those who obey God in this way are invariably blessed, even though difficulties may remain. Thankfulness opens your heart to God’s Presence and your mind to His thoughts. You may be in the same place, with the same set of circumstances, but being thankful enables you to see from God’s perspective. It is this Light of God’s Presence that removes the sting from adversity.

“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20)

Life has a way of opening our eyes to the importance of the small things. Adversity in our lives have a way of reminding us of the things that we take for granted. Thankfulness is a Fruit of the Spirit which we give when we live in the Spirit. JOY is also a Fruit of the Spirit. We are rewarded Joy by God when we are thankful.

“Give thanks to the Lord , for he is good; his love endures forever.”(Psalm 118:1)

The Bible tells us the “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”(John 4:17) “The peace of God transcends all understanding.”( Phillipians 4:7) Ephesians 3:19 says “to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” When we are given the peace of mind in circumstances that don’t make sense we should absorb it because we are told “do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 4:17)
My friends I know it’s difficult to make sense of rejoicing in ALL circumstances. It’s hard to fathom being THANKFUL for a devastating loss, a life changing event or illness, but it’s not for us to understand. This is the same God that gave His Son on Calvary for you and me despite already knowing ALL the times we are going to fail & disappoint Him.

“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.” (Psalm 89:15)
