Ordinary or Extraordinary: It’s your choice..

Good Wednesday Morning & Happy New Year my friends,

Growing up, I was a huge fan of Walter Payton. I remember seeing videos of him running “the hill” during the off season. He without a doubt was the hardest working man in the NFL during his playing days. Jerry Rice was the same way and ran a up a hill too. He worked harder in the off-season than anyone else. Both of these men had reached the pinnacle of their life yet neither would allow themselves to be Happy with just praying in the NFL. They both reached further down and pushed for more. They both became NFL record setters, All-Pro’s, Super Bowl Champions, and eventually first ballot Hall of Famers..
Unlike Walter Payton & Jerry Rice most people have a tendency to become complacent. To do just enough to get by. They like flying under the radar and just being ordinary.. Personally I’ve always tried to be a little different. I have never understood why someone would want to be ordinary when they have the ability to be extraordinary. Why be good when you can be great? I strive to be a great husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, friend, boss, employee, manager and Christian.
In today’s devotional, Paul tells us that just because we accept Christ as our Savior doesn’t mean we’ve reached our pinnacle. We must let go of our past and not dwell on our guilt but instead move forward. We must continue to grow in our knowledge of Christ and strive to reach what His plan is for our lives. We do this by staying in God’s word. We must be aware that sometimes as Christians, we will want to be lazy or complacent which in-turn will allow us to stray from God’s word and eventually slack in our commitment. It is during these times that our lives will get out of focus and we will lose God’s direction for our lives.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 3:13-14)

My CHALLENGE PRAYER for you… Strive to grow your faith and don’t allow yourself to become complacent.

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL day.. Blessings & much love….D

Live your life like it’s your LAST 24!!!!

  1. I don’t think we ever reach our pinnacle in our Christian life. When we think we know everything we should know about God”s word or what he wants to do in our life then he opens another door or teaches us something new. Who would ever think at 75 years old we would answer a call to do music at a church. We just need to keep our heart open to receive whatever God has for us. Every time I read God’s word I see something new and amazing. The Bible is an amazing book. It never gets old.
